Sports News

Garranbane N.S are still on a high after the fantastic achievement of our girls’ camogie team winning the West Waterford School’s Division 1 Shield Final against St Marys N.S. We are incredibly proud of the girls and their coaches Ms. Heneghan, Mr. Curran and Ms. Hahessy .

A CAPTAIN’S POINT OF VIEW

I was really nervous going to Abbeyside GAA pitch. But our team got so far so why should I be nervous, it was just another match and we were meant to have fun.(obviously I wanted us to win.)  Before we went onto the pitch we did a warm up and I had to say an encouraging speech to my teammates.

When our team went onto the field I got super nervous but my team was super supportive so I overcame the nerves.  Then the whistle blew.  ST. Marys played very well.  They were a tough team.  The ball came up to our goal once.  The final score was two goals and three points to nothing.  I was over the moon.  We took lots of pictures, I was so proud of our team. After a few minutes the official photographer came over and Mr. Neill Moore presented the plaque.  I receive the plaque on behalf of all my team mates.  It was an amazing feeling and we couldnt have done it without great team work !!!!

Well done Garranbane N.S.

Closer to home

The weekend just gone was a proud one for the school with both the Waterford football and hurling teams being represented  by past pupils of Garranbane NS. On Sunday, Brian Looby (last seasons captain) took to the field for  the Waterford footballers against Wicklow and also on Sunday afternoon  Conor Prunty led the Waterford hurlers to victory against Westmeath . We would like to thank Seánie Kiely for all the hard work he has put in with all pupils over the years. It is great to see his past pupils reaping the rewards of his involvement in schools GAA . Best wishes to Conor and Brian for the coming season from all in Garranbane N.S.

Annie represented Waterford playing football against Clare, Seán played on the hurling team against Cork and Eimear was picked for the camogie team that played against Limerick. Well done all of you!

5 Star Centre GAA Flag

We are delighted here at Garranbane N.S. to have been presented with a 5 Star Centre GAA Flag for promoting our national games within our school.

Roinn A Western Camogie Champions!

Garranbane girls had great success in camogie this year,  winning games against Abbeyside and Cappoquin to qualify for the Western Final. Here, we met a strong Lismore team who had beaten us previously so we knew we had a tough battle on our hands. The girls played out of their skins and ended up victorious by two points.

Our Western title earned us a place in the county final where the girls got a chance to play in Fraher Field. Although the girls played brilliantly and never gave up, Ballygunner proved too strong for us on the day.

We are very proud of our girls! Well done all of you!

Gymnastics

Second, third and fourth classes recently enjoyed a block of four weeks in Dungarvan Gymnastics Club.

All the children, both experienced gymnasts and those new to gymnastics, had a ball! Thanks to all the coaches in Dungarvan Gymnastics .

Mini 7s Camogie 2019

Our girls mini 7s camogie team did very well this year to win three games in Abbeyside GAA field

Although the girls all played well on the day they were defeated by a strong Scoil Mhuire (Tallow) team.

Football 2018

Our boys football team put in a great display against Ballymac in this years A semi final.
