They will act as a critical friend and challenge our school to think in new and different ways.

Dear Parents,

As you are aware we have set up a new reading Programme, Accelerated Reader from 2nd to 6th class.

Accelerated Reader is a computer program that helps teachers and parents manage, monitor and encourage children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at their reading level and reads it at their own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on their ipad or laptop. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.) Accelerated Reader gives children, teachers, and parents feedback based on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help your child set goals and direct ongoing reading practice.

We hope that all children will try and pick up a book and read over Christmas.   If your child continues to read over Christmas  they can login onto Accelerated Reader to complete the short quiz  on   Https://ukhosted142.renlearn.co.uk/6933393 (This webpage is unique to Garranbane N.S and is the only webpage that your child can login to complete a quiz.)  ( All children received a login and password from their teacher.) Rewards will be received in January for Christmas reading.

I have  attached an information to help parent navigate through  this programme.  A combined effort from both school and home is required to ensure that the maximum potential of the programme is reached.  Books can be accessed online through the website https://ukhosted142.renlearn.co.uk/6933393 (this link will also be posted on the school website)  and  student’s own portal which will allow your child to enhance and build on their reading habits even through the school holidays

BLUE AND WHITE FEVER!!!!

Our school has been alive this week with excitement for the All Ireland Hurling Final, Waterford verses Limerick!

We were delighted that our school was one of the lucky schools to win the 'Centra Fans in The Stands competition'. All the classes got a chance to decorate portraits for Croke Park. Everyone has taken part from making decorations and art pieces for classrooms and hallways, making up songs and videos. We also had RTE visit the school and some children got to play Hurling for the camera, sing a song and be interviewed.

We are extremely proud of our Past pupil Conor Prunty who is captaining the team! We want to wish him and the rest of the Team the very best of Luck for the match on Sunday and thank them for giving our school community the great feel good factor over the last few weeks.

WE ARE SO VERY PROUD!
